I can only say what is going on in Devon, who have just finished job evaluation.
But the majority of network managers (where the job description says manager) have ended up on a G grade which is £27500 starting.

I bet this council are happy that all the IT people have "Technician" on their job specs then
Can i suggest that "someone" (i'd be happy to) make up an excel spreadsheet with comparisons of job salaries/brief job descriptions for "Network Managers" to help those who are on the lower end of the Salary.
We could all use the information to compare jobs etc and use the information to maybe gain better pay scales?
Perhaps i'm being to optimistic here but i'd like to give it a go.
If people could forward the info to my e-mail addy i'd be happy to compose it and e-mail it back out to those that had sent.

They're advertisting for my replacement here. They've toned the job down to Trainee Network Manager and the salary starts at 16,595 for term time only plus two weeks (that figure is after pro rata-ing).

We're undergoing regrading at the moment, I'm lumped in with all the other Network Managers in the county and have the horrible feeling that my pay will end up being slashed something awful. I'm near the top of our current banding (£26K) and expect it to drop by about £6,000.
I just know they'll increase the pay for central IT staff or maintain it even though I do far more and have 10000x the responibilities :(
Having done a bit of research into the funding schools get (not specifically for technician salaries) I think I can help explain a little of the significant differences people are finding in their salaries.
The main difference is whether you are a rural or urban LEA. This is a very sweeping statement but applies for the vast majority of LEA's - if they are rural then the LEA will hold on to a lot more funding centrally whereas urban ones feed the money down to the schools, which gives the schools more money to spend.
The biggest bill in any school is the salary cost, and as we know Teachers salaries are very strictly set and governed. This means the only places that schools can save money is to cut "flexible" costs such as support staff salaries and expenditure such as buying computers.
The single status is a step towards trying to make support staff salaries as fixed a cost as teacher salaries.

We have just been "done" with GLEA
I'm the Snr technician (no official network manager job here), and I have come out on 444pts, Scale 5
We are a 1600 pupil school, 650 Desktops & 250 Laptops, I'm not surprised at the fact nothing has changed, but still had a glimer of hope I would get moved to a Scale 6 (462pts!)
Anyone else here been done on the GLEA scheme?
