Sort of agree...surely this isnt that big a story now? Surely every person in the world who wanted the Beatles back catalogue have bought it on another format by now? (considering they are probably fairly cheap)
How many people have really been hanging on from buying anything until they were available on iTunes?
I don't own a single Beatles song. Nor do many young people. Them being on iTunes is a big thing for Apple, as it means their catalogue is much more complete.
I love them! and I hate iTunes! Beatles songs are the only ones where the instruments/voice sound independently on every speaker, it is very hard to rip them without losing the quality of sound the CD has. Would love to 'see' (heard) how good the quality of the iTunes mp3s are, but reckon I will stick to my old rocking CDs, yeha!!
I am a big Beatles fan but don't have the complete lot yet, and so will probably treat myself to a few things. I do try to get hold of any of the multi-track files out there and have a few from Sgt Pepper's ... absolute class to strip down each track to hear the imperfections, but it just sounds so good when it is all together.
Be interesting to see how the charts shape up over the next couple of weeks then - there may well be a lot of Beatles tracks placing quite highly.
