I agree completely with keeping the World Cup on the telly (not having one myself), but would pass a law requiring all towns to have at least one pub which does not have a television, and has a selection of real ales and whiskey. State-sponsored if necessary.

I would go further, and suggest that every town is only allowed ONE pub WITH a TV, and the rest MUST have a good selection of German lagers.....especially Warsteiner (A personal favourite!!!), then you would be free to go almost everywhere without fear of the telly encroaching!

However, I believe that even then, there would be people who would go into the ONE pub, just to complain that the telly is on!!!
