Hey guys
Ok I wanna take the plunge and learn more about linux and was hoping you guys can advise me on which package to go for as there are quite a few,
I've heard that Ubuntu is the one to go for so if you can guide me to the do's and dont's and also any help with dual boot as I'm running 7 and dont wanna loose or corrupt what I have ,

I would advise Ubuntu as it is a good starter for someone new to Linux, Like you I have been trying to learn Linux (focussing on Ubuntu and OpenSuse) the more I use it the more I learn. Both are great platforms.
I was spending a lot of time on these 2 OS's until Windows 7 came along which I love (well done Microsoft).
I would recommend OpenSuse as well as that has by far the best software downloader tool (called yast) which makes installing applications very easy from its library of 1000s of apps.
The new Ubuntu whilst I haven't installed it yet I have heard good things about it.
Second vote for Ubuntu.
Dual boot is easy to setup [especially if you use WUBI (http://wubi-installer.org/)]
I had a problem with a previous version of Ubuntu installed through WUBI.
I decided to uninstall Ubuntu and all in left behind was the boot to Windows/Ubuntu option at startup [I think that this is not an issue as I will shortly be installing the new Ubuntu and will be using that boot option again.

Used to be a Fedora fan until very recently, Before that it wasw SuSE...

i've always had issues moving full time to ubuntu as i'm a dual screen person, and none of my dual head graphics cards have worked.
also if your just playing with it, save the hastle of dual booting and run it within sun virtual box.
I'm loving Ubuntu 9.10....!
It's on two of my PCs at home now and I'm looking at deploying Kubuntu at work.

To the OP, I recommend Linux Mint. It's Ubuntu but with a more familiar interface for Windows users.
I hear 10.4 is to be called Lucid Lynx..
