Fancy buying a lovely fisherman's cottage.....
BBC NEWS | England | Kent | Cottage sale omits nuclear view
You would never get cold and you would glow in the dark........
I went to live in Cumbria about 8 years ago, went to view this really nice cottage, the price was about £36k. on this little country lane with high hedges, went to the master bedroom upstairs and there was a nice view of sellafield right in front!! hidden by the hedges downstairs. we thought about it, but looking out at that every morning would be just to depressing!!!
What about everyone in middlesbrough who gets this then lol

TBH most people dont mind it as it looks rather impresive at night with it all lit up and licks of blue and purple flames popping out of the top of the byproducts chimneys (or whatever they are called)

Call me cynical/paranoid etc. but I wouldnt trust the goverment (etc.) to have made sure that background radiation doesnt have any effects on surrounding areas. A bit like buying a house under a pylon/powerline :(
It was a bit "disingenuous" of the BBC to photograph the cottage through a telephoto lens in such a way that the nuclear power station looks massive in comparison ;)
mb
@j17sparky: How Middlesbrough-ish are you? I'm from Redcar here.
I actually LOLed when I watched that video. Just love how it zoomed out to reveal a power plant literally "on your doorstep" haha.
It is massive in comparison thou, I've been pretty much up to that cottage, and you can't comprehend the size of that powerstation in comparison until you get that close to it, it is absolutely massive!
It's not the view that would annoy me, it's the noise of the place, there's a constant drone from it.
Mike.
I wouldn't mind living there if they knocked the price down a bit :)
Becasue I'm bored, have a googley earth type link.
dungeness - Google Maps
House is Right hand side of Image, Powerstations take up the rest
Mike.
Haha! As if the roads within the Powerstation's perimeter are named! I'm surprised that house hasn't either been knocked down or being lived in by someone that works at the station!
You'd think the caretaker would live there, or even use it for a plutonium rod outhouse lol :D
Following my radiation concerns heres one -
The report was commissioned to address concerns following a television documentary last year which suggested there was a cluster of cancer cases in the area around Sellafiel
BBC ON THIS DAY | 23 | 1984: Sellafield 'not linked' to cancer cluster
He said the theory that the plant was a factor in the high rate of leukaemia could not be categorically dismissed, but nor was it easy to prove.
f*ck living there too many maybes! Nice beach nearby though, wonder what is discharged into that lol :D
Who knows but I wouldnt buy it, maybe if it doesnt bother some people they would
I wonder if its got a nice low level hum to it, maybe oscillating a bit ?
oooh I've been there to Dungeoness and got the photos to prove it got some good photos of the power station, the lighthouse as well and the pub (The Britania Inn) served good food :)
Was a very nice excursion, was staying in Canterbury at the time and had a trip there with a friend I was with who's an Artist and she did some nice paintings.
