Cancel Your 3 Mobile Contract Early

Just been passed this at work, doesn't seem to be a hoax. There's more info on the people who have had this working etc. The original forum that my collegue got it from was here : Cancel Your 3 Contract Early - Jambos Kickback

Nothing on snopes etc about it.

BUt then again I am reluctant to send this to anyone as I know the usual, if it sounds to good to be true, it normally is etc...

Basically, 3 are quietly cancelling a foreign service they offered their users when they signed their contracts. 3 users should have received a text about it but what they might not realise is, as this means a change in the contract, users are allowed to cancel with no cancellation fee payable.

Here's a quick rundown of what to do:

Call 0870 733 0333

Enter your Number

Choose options 4 then 3 on the menu

Speak to the first person.

Tell them that you've received a text stating that you can terminate your contract.

They'll deny that you've recieved the text.....plough on regardless....use this downloadable PDF (Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire tell them what the link contained in the text message told you (The last paragraph is the killer one!)

They'll then put you through to Customer Options. Repeat above steps. If they tell you that you can't cancel speak to a manager and tell them that you're moving to Ireland for 3 months.....possibly a year. They'll relent and give you a PAC Code.

The average time I'm taking for this is about 30mins!

This is genuine.

They've altered the way they do their roaming charges, and a few people have got out of their contracts because of it.

It doesn't apply to all users though.

Normally tell folk off for passing on e-mails about how they will get £60 from McDonalds or whatever for forwarding on an e-mail.

I am up for trying this,

still have another 9 months to go,

I am paying £25 for 500 mins 100 texts.
They are doing the n71 with unlimited txts & internet & 300 mins for £20.

So I will let you know.

Depends on the contract you are on.

Reading the other forum, people who aren't able to leave are getting money off each month.

Have to say, unless you're genuinely affected by the change in this service, or you really need to cancel for whatever reason, it's somewhat greedy to cancel just because you can. YOU signed up for the stated time, YOU agreed to what you pay (which you can change anyway)
The reason you get a cheap or free phone is because you're paying it off as part of your contract, takes the p*** slightly if you use this to cancel then get another subsidised phone.

However, it is a stupid thing for 3 to have done. Cant have been costing them much, was a nice benefit and if people ended up with a bill because they didnt bother to look at what network they were connected to, then its pretty much their fault.
Though I had a friend who went to Sydney at the start of the year and he said the only place he got 3 reception was at the airport!

!0 minutes in and offered £30 straight away.

Hmmmn sounds like a good lead.

I'd say its fair game. They broke the contract, not their users. They should have known what the consequences might be.

As to people being affected by the change, what about someone just popping abroad on holiday for a week and wanting to use their phone? Its a change in what they're offering, regardless of whether it actually affects you if its part of the reason that you chose that contract then you have every right to cancel, whether you've actually made use of it or not.

Basically 3 have pulled a bait and switch here, and shouldn't be able to get away with it.

Well as I said, the new contracts have unlimited internet, email, texts ect. That will save me approx £10 a month minimum, though I will probably kick the bum out of the free texts.

now they are giving me the upgrade option.
