No, they mean it can't be supposedly representative of the school/council/etc. They can't stop teachers having their own blog in their own time..

Hmmm, i may need to call my LEA as we have 20 or so blogs that are specficlly for teaching at ashlawn (they prefer them to the VLE atm)

If she really was posting what the article claims, I have no sympathy whatsoever. It's grossly unprofessional and shouldn't be done at all, let alone during working hours.

One thing - what does LEA policy have to do with it? This sort of thing is entirely up to the school, as those sort of policies are decided on a site by site basis by the staff and governors.

Ok, the LEA might give guidelines over such things, but they don't control at a school level.

Things are different north of the border - LEAs (or the equivalent) have more say in how schools are run.

From what is posted on the BBC website, the content is no more "unprofessional" than the stuff that is posted in the behind the red door area on this very forum, most of which is done during work hours.

You're quite right, and it's something that needs addressing by us too. We can't really whinge about poorly-judged twitters without sorting out our own house as well.
