A student just came into my office and asked if we had a colour photocopier.
I asked why.
She showed me a "black and white" printout of some photos and told me she wanted to copy it.
I said that she wouldn't need a colour photocoper as the pictures where black and white.
She replied that the original pictures where colour sh wouldn't the copies come out in colour!!!

Is this just a case of where she's telling you half the story - ie she's got the original photos, she's scanned and printed them but they came out black and white (on a black and white laser printer). Now what she would like is to take the original photos and copy them in colour.
Trouble is that she's not said that so she's not going to make much progress :-)

She had printed the photos on a black and white printer from a web page!
Student came up yesterday asking if we could restore a file that she had been working on at home and had mistakingly overwritten her original, she was fully expecting us to recover a file from our backup because her teacher told her that we backed up everything!
Oh, if only that were true - we'd easily be able to sort *any* problem, not just IT ones...!Quote:

On the other hand I had a student come to me this morning, he's 10 and was reinstalling XP on his home machine (as he's going to dual boot it) but ran up against needing some sound card drivers. So he downloaded the right ones and got it working. Then remembered I'd mentioned a sound card driver problem last week so came to me today with them on a USB stick incase I needed them. Thanked him and told him to come back at lunch and I'll do my best to explain how drivers work and are generally specific to device.
But he is one of the exceptions.
Last year had one of the supposedly "clever" ones spouting off infront of the whole class about how much faster the ICT suite would be if the PCs had wireless cards in them. Yup on a fully wired 100Mbit network, teacher hadn't arrived to I took the opportunity to educate them a little on the stupidity of his comment.
Oh, and the number of students who have no idea of the difference between the PC base unit and the monitor. :confused:
