The Power Of Facebook
Recently a friend, someone i used to work with in my last school took his own life. He was a long serving teacher of the school and the local authority.
When news of his death broke out a memorial group was setup on Facebook. Thousands of people joined the group within a week. The school arranged a memorial service at the school and the details where also published on Facebook. On the day there where hundreds of people who attended and they could not fit into the hall. Many had made the trip from all areas of the North West.
The majority of people knew about the news and the event through Facebook, its surprising how many people are on it and how powerfull tool it actually is.
And conversely it's annoying how much crap is on there too!
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend; and if you look at my profile you'll see I'm a member of a couple of similar groups for lost friends too.
Thoughts with you mate.
Had a similar experience a couple of years ago now, and with the number of people who attended the funeral the town was closed, main roads in were closed to be turned into car parks, the church relayed the service outside to mourners right up the high street... it was chaos. The greatest tribute we could have paid him though.
