I need a pocket hard drive

Can anyone reccomend one? I'm not looking for a huge one, or an expensive one. Play.com has got an 8gig memorex one for £25 but just wanna make sure thats not my only option! :D

well....i suppose not..it might just be me but i find them a bit slower....maybe its my imagination....

Most cheap flash drives have awful transfer speeds - I dont see the point in having an 8GB one if it takes hours to copy that much data on it

I like the WD pocket 2.5" drives, not too expensive. Mine has taken all kinds of knocks and bumps and still works ok (touch wood)

I have a Buffalo ministation drive. About 50 quid for 320GB. Well built and speedy.

Personally, I'd go for a USB 2.5" IDE caddy - then any drives you rescue from retired/dead laptops are potential storage space :) Got one here with a 60gb drive in from a fried Samsung laptop and it's been invaluable.

Might not be the price break looking for as a bit over, but an atlernative for about £45 (inc vat) you could purchase a USB slim 2.5" HDD enclosure with an 80 GB hard drive in it - with sync/backup button, dimensions would be around 135mm x 75mm x 15mm.

Another shout for the WD passports. I have 3 of the 250gb and 1 of the 160gb and they are all been great.

We supplied our ICT Teaching department with the WD drives and nearly all of them are now dead due to either being dropped or bashed around. We have now gone for Freecom Toughdrives, a little more expensive but do seem a lot more rugged (you can even get them in pink if that's your thing).

I've had 3 WD Passports on my desk of late..all dead. Not robust kit IMO. OK, some teachers are sausage fingered idiots, but...

I always prefer solid state storage...more robust.

Wow..I paid that for my 4gb 12 months back...excellent drive. Cruzer Titaniums are a bit more, but are beautifully made and feel really solid..
