Some weekly stats.
I must have been slacking (that or the Exchange 2007 transition is taking up lots of my time), but I missed 2 important milestones this past week.
On 2 days we have had over 7000 unique visitors per day (not bots), which is a first for us, so here are the visitor stats:
Sun:2844
Mon:6910
Tues:7227
Wed:6832
Thurs:7134
Fri:6460
Sat:2883
And new members (by day)
Sun:8
Mon:20
Tues:22
Wed:22
Thurs:15
Fri:21
Sat:9
That's 117 new members this past week (of which about 7 or 8 were spam accounts). At this rate we will hit 10,000 on approximately Christmas day. In fact, why don't we have a little competition right now to guess the date. I'm going to plump for December 15th (even though I can't win). There can be multiple winners as there will not be enough dates to go around and we'll make up some special EduGeek lucky bags for those who guess correctly :)

I think that it's also worth noting that the average time spent on the site has increased from 4.5mins to over 5mins in the past month. This either means people like what they see or things are getting harder to find - I like to think it's the first! ;)
-
Good news. Do we have any idea how the new members are coming to the site.
Can we see who is referring them here or is it just a case of a google search, word of mouth or are you advertising anywhere externally? Not important, just interested really how the site continues to grow.
-
These are the last month's stats for where people are coming from:
- Search Engines - 119,671.00 (72.56%)
- Direct Traffic - 38,025.00 (23.05%)
- Referring Sites - 7,237.00 (4.39%)
- Other - 1 (> 0.00%)
The most interesting stat being that over 5800 of the Google referrals are people typing 'edugeek' into Google.
-
Many common Google searches resolved to us. Almost anything EeePC related and bulk user creation are 2 I've noticed recently that we are in the top 2 or 3.
-
TBH, I sometimes use the "google for edugeek" technique to save typing on machines where I don't have it bookmarked :)
Do you get any referrals at all from us? Most of our links are in newsletters, so I doubt it will be much. I'll have to ask Paul nicely what sort of level of clickthru we get back...
Edit: 19th December :)

I EasySearch for eduGeek because it earns money for the school every time I do it!
Edit:
December 12th!

"got that new millenium +9 bug I heard about on Panorama (read: Paranoia)"
and the amount of posts in FFS will rocket.

The Alexa data makes for some interesting reading too.
edugeek.net - Traffic Details from Alexa
not sure how it squares with the 'offical' site stats though. :P
