Ah, there we go.
Just checked in the TAT manual and with Synetrix (our daily chat) and it would appear that if both sites have reconciled their UPNs like good people, the RECEIVING site does a bulk upload with the new students existing UPNs (which xfer with the kid) and it will pull them over from the other site.
The SENDING site then needs to do a bulk upload to 'wipe the slate' clean so to speak.
All there in the TAT guide 6.3 on page 59.
I'ma go try it and see what happens!
Uploading now, 1184 members of which 77 are coming from other sites.
Shows how many people bothered making accounts on EMBC for their kids. (We didn't and won't be).
Lets see if it correctly brings them over.
Yeah ... that is one of the problems with having a global Directory ... for it to be useful then *everyone* needs to input into it.
If the LA says "you have to" then you get a revolt ... if it is left purely up to schools you could say "why bother".
Sitting on the fence a bit, a central update of information could come from the central LA information system, but that relies on that system being up to date too. I have looked at what is coming up nationally and a central system is likely to be the most sensible solution, with the gaps (timetable, groups, special information) being filled in by school *should they wish to use the service*. This gives the best of both worlds without having to push schools to use something they don't want to.
This also helps Children's homes and PRUs who will also need students to have EMBC accounts and don't wish for there to be duplicate accounts (as a few have shown that it was possible to have duplicate UPNs until recently!)
I'm quickly looking at a few things whilst I have a bit of 'Net access, but would others prefer for the basic details to be controlled by the LA rather than each individual school having to do stuff? How do people think the migration of users from school to school will be completed (Transfer from MIS to MIS, etc)?
Right so we do bulk upload of students minus the ones leaving plus new intake and it will sort its self out.
Will try that tomorrow.

If you do an export from your MIS with an effective date of September 1st it will already take into account your leavers/new admissions.
I've not yet had my email saying created etc. Real Time provision, but real time on its own timings!
