Saw that on the local news yesterday, lots of teachers from my last school live in that area :rolleyes:
St marys island isn't even a proper island, although technically it qualifies, but it's only about 10ft from main land!
One thing that article doesn't mention is who the snake belongs to;
Missing snake belongs to X-factor star | KentOnline| News
Mike.

Residents have been advised to lock their doors, close windows and wherever possible keep pets inside while the snake is missing.
WTF?? Lock the door? What the blazes do they think the thing's going to do? Flip the latch so it can get in to eat Tiddles? Jeez... and journalists are supposed to be educated.... Wait, this is Kent, I forgot. :doh:

So are the police spokespersons who first gave that advice...
What bugs me is the recent '999 is for emergencies' campaign suddenly becomes 'if you see it lazing in your garden, call 999' :rolleyes:

:D didn't notice that, well spotted. It is a little stupid, probably a case of someone over the top.

Did you not see Jurassic Park? "We should be fine, as long as they don't figure out how to open doors..."

Not only do snakes not have OPPOSABLE thumbs, they don't have ANY thumbs at all. Still, I suppose that things mouth is big enough to go around a doorknob... :eek: RUN!

The school I work at has loads of animals. They have lizards and they feed them on locusts. The locusts and and get out and there have been a few times that I have found a locust jumping about at the back of the PCs in science.
The school used to a have a tantranula, but it died and the caretaker wants to get a corn snake.
Such things would never happen in the commerial world.

Why ever not? If what the business is about is teaching kids about the world around them, then having animals to learn from is perfectly sensible. Similarly Estate Agents employ hyenas, and law firms employ sharks. :getmecoat:

Depends what the line of business they're in imho.
I for one wouldn't find the music industry, movie industry, game industry, or other various different media related industries 'boring', and these are all part of the commercial world.
But if you enjoy working with animals you could always work in a research lab.. errr I mean zoo.
