So I just got a call from BT offering me a £2 a month reduction on the cost of my broadband plus extra online storage and unlimited wifi... All I had to do was agree to a 12 month contract from today.
Sounds like the normal sort of thing companies do doesn't it?
The only thing is, I agreed to an 18 month contract only 2 months ago... So this new contract effectively reduces my minimum term by 4 months, and reduces the amount I'm paying...
Seems pretty good to me! :D
In only 6 Months you could have finished your contract last year and have BT paying you a healthy wage for having unlimited gigabit broadband.

Houses round the corner get 4 times the line speed I get. The very second we get an alternative, I want to escape from BTs clutches.
I'm already paying for "up to 8 Meg" I'd still be on 256k if I hadn't nagged them. I bitterly resent having to commit myself to another 12 months contract for a line speed I'm paying for anyway.
Sky Broadband here.... £10 a month, get almost 15 meg down, brilliant service.Quote:

given that this is BT, I'd check the small print very carefully - I wouldn't put it past them to be asking you to sign up to a 30 month contract (ie 18 months + a further 12 months!)

Better make sure that they are cancelling the other one. When I was with BT they kept offering me these extra deals but never cancelled the previous ones. So they were all running concurrently. Got to admit that I must have been a bit dim not to notice that the price kept going up instead of down but it wasn't until I swapped to another supplier that it came to light. Thats the trouble with Direct debit, I just assumed that they would do everything.

BT billed me out of the blue to the tune of £200 for 'exessive-usage' by changing my contract T&Cs without notifying me. During the prior 6 months they'd made a point of trying to tie me into another 12 month contract which I didn't want. Then when they did charge me they "kindly" offered to wave the charge if signed up for another 12 month contract with them! Nowt but a scam to try and get folk to sign up with them again.
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole :mad:
