Although, technically, it's not Gregorian chant (and it's ****** awful!)
I played our students the album version of this today, they didnt know what it was but they liked it.
For some weird music, Jojo Mayer/Nerve. Awesome "electronic" music actually played on acoustic instruments.
If you want to scare them, try Cryptopsy or Fleshgod Apocalypse... I need say no more :P
As an aside, I went to see these guys (The Katona Twins) just before Christmas. While, they were technically brilliant, I had to leave half way through. It was meant to be a 'chamber concert', but they were wirelessly amplified. Despite it being a stereo setup, there was absolutely no panning on the sound so everything just came out of the same place. Despite sitting quite centrally, the position/location of the speakers meant that everything seemed to be coming from my left - despite the fact that they were both positioned slightly to my right. It was like listening through one side of a pair of headphones. My head couldn't cope with that so I left at the interval. :(
It actually sounds better to me on here that it did in the concert hall!
Sorry to resurrect this old thread but what music do you recommend for a sports achievement assembly?
Last year I used Script - Hall of fame but fancied a change this year!
Here are some ideas
Best 60 Sports Songs to Rock Your Sports Party - Yahoo Voices - voices.yahoo.com
I quite like the idea of "You ain't seen nothing yet"
Traditionally it would be "Chariots of Fire"

Do you really need to go any further than this..? :)
But seriously, I've used instrumental game soundtracks a few times. Managed to sneak in Silent Hill and System Shock 2 amongst Super Meat Boy and Minecraft before.
Edit: Ooh! Ooh! Lucasart games soundtracks! I ripped my Sam and Max Hit the road CD and have it for assemblies too...
When ever I want to push people out of their (mainstream) comfort zone I nearly always go straight for: Tool - Schism - YouTube
You can't beat a bit of TOOL!
