Wait 'till you see what Grant Shapps is up to. He happens to be my local mp and I was going to vote conservative in 2015 but I am thinking not now
To be fair, it wasn't a throne it was a chair. Painted gold.
And not even his chair as he was a guest.
Oooh yes, evil evil child murdering tories, boooo!!!
Lets vote for the multi-millionaire marxist instead, he's a real man for the people!
What else is new? They award themselves a better pension when everyone else is having theirs cut. They award themselves a huge payrise when everyone is having their pay cut or frozen. Labour did it. The tories did it and are doing it. Politicians are corrupt and greedy, it doesn't matter what colour tie they wear.
Goodness me, let's all overreact, shall we? If you have ever read ANY of mattx's posts, @Flatpackhamster, and @teejay you will know that he isnt advocating voting for the other lot at all - he hold them in pretty much the same amount of contempt.
And where on earth does "evil" or "child murdering" come into it? As well as calling people children because they object to something a politician said? Ridiculous
TBH whether you are Tory or not, it was a bit of a stupid thing to say in that sort of environment - I'm sure you can see that?
I can see nothing more in the above but lots of personal opinions based on very little fact. The spiraling cost of debt, exactly what austerity was supposed to fix, remains almost unchanged in its direction. It hasn't even decreased, if anything its sped up and it certainly hasn't reduced. But then, you all already know that right?
@witch my posts are not meant to be taken seriously ;-)
For my serious reply. These events happen all the time, I've watched Labour leaders/MP's stand up at these type of events and then witter on about equality whilst making the country even less equal, justify illegal wars, claim to be saviours of the NHS whilst slowly destroying it, so standing up and speaking about the need for continued austerity within the public sector spending is at least holding an honest view whether you agree with that view or not.
I do wonder if Ruth Hardy is still employed by the events company, if we say had an awards evening with a guest speaker but it was someone we didn't like and then wrote an article in a paper slagging off the event and the speaker I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be in our job very long.
