I would love these new films to be somewhere NEAR as good as the original....

If they used ALL of the extended universe, they could probably do it easily.
Jar Jar will be in a spin off movie, he dies in the 1st scene. That film already sounds like the best thing since Return of the Jedi.
Maybe when the first couple of films are out, George Lucas will have a "My god... what have I done?" moment, followed shortly by a gunshot.
