This has been used for many years. Most ex and serving servicemen would call Britain this. I certainly would have in the 70s.

I always give the 1st caller of the day the opportuniy to give me a free holiday in Hawaii (or an ipad) in exchange for me ordering a few toners (As I wouldn't want to miss out on a great offer)

They never do and I never take the 2nd call

    Si
PS Was tempted by latest I something or other offer of a free 7in Android ICS pad but suspect I'd have to order enough toner to fill the stock room so I've not called them but if anyone has got one for a simple rainbow pack order - let us all know

Yes - heard often decades ago, but not in recent times. Mind you, I'm a bit particular about what we call things. I am not a fan of having a 'Team GB' in sports...for me it's Great Britain or nothing. Old school I suppose. Or just old.

I used to play Bass in a band, maybe he's referring to that? If he is, then his use of English is not up to scratch!

We have a technician who can do a superb South African accent and whenever one of our regular 'base-touchers' calls we put him on the phone and he gives them the runaround in his immaculate SA accent...

    We do have a laugh!
