31st May 2012, 11:04 AM #17 Was that the nvidia defect? The patch was to make the fans run at full speed. Hmmmm.
I had a (two year old) HP G6000 burn out on me but Staples replaced it with a brand new Samsung a year after the warranty expired!

8th June 2012, 10:40 PM #19 I treated myself to a new 'home' laptop this week too
Samsung RF711 17.3-inch Laptop (Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, 1TB HDD, Blu-ray, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit)
It has space for two HDD, so I slipped in a 120gb SSD too
& I have just had confirmation email that the VAT 'cashback' offer has been approved.
