No I haven't done that. I do wonder about the soil as nothing is growing very large! Don't have a fish tank. May look at digging in some general fertiliser over winter.

@pcstru thanks there are some great ideas there. Didn't realise I could start off onions and garlic now. Though I may end up with enough garlic to supply most of East Anglia!

A bad year here too - no raspberries or gooseberries - the sweetcorn is NOW growing - too late. Got a few peas and a bit of salad off the patio.
Worst thing is the apples - there aren't any! I make apple jelly every year - started doing it years ago because of the glut we had every year. Sadly I dont think I will be making any for the first time in 20 years

Unfortunately we also have a major fox population locally (nearby railway line doesn't help) so free range poultry is a big no no.

I know that this thread is a bit old but did not feel like starting a new thread for this - a video of our allotment.

Major activity this year ....... will be ........ A SHED!!!!!!
Every man should have a shed ...... always had one in previous houses but only just getting round (getting permission from S.W.M.B.O.) here.

Ha, we said we'd get one last year..but we've replanned. Where the last owners had a shed, we're going to locate the rabbit/g-pig. Then where the odd little flowerbed/rosebushes etc are, the bed measure 6x4..which is quite a happy co-incidence..
Already started the replanting, weeding the raised beds, and filling the tyre wall with plants. Must get more tyres too.
Need to tidy up the front garden and get some load-spreading mesh, as the car parks on the gravel and is now listing rather amusingly where it has sunk over the winter. Also another water butt is required.
