Re: New Edugeek Users - Introduce yourself here :)

    Hi everyone.

First day on here so thought I'd post a hello message.

    Hello

I work as a Network Manager for two primary schools shared on a 50/50 basis.
I also support two other schools on a support contract.
Previous to my current role, I worked as IT technician for a secondary school.
Hope that my experiences can benefit others and take away some good advice too.

    Catch you around

    Richard

Greeting To My fellow Educational Techies!!

I am the ICT Tech @ Hainault Forest High School based in Essex. I've been in the job for appx 16 months, originating from the finance industry in central London.

My focus whilst in the job has been application developement, 'trying to make the job easier'. Focussing on scripts with vbs, jscripts, hta, data management from SIMS (mySQL, postgres) and an intranet for the staff and students(htm, asp, php) as well as normal daily duties of 'Break-Fix'.

Hope to be able to contribute to this forum as well as learn a few new things on the way.

    Reagrds ;-)

    Allo all...

I'm Rhydian Edwards, I've just started my first job since leaving Uni as IT "person" at Ysgol Bro Ddyfi, Machynlleth (you may recognise this as Tarquel's patch, but as he's moving on to pastures new I'm his replacement...) I hope to be able to add to the edugeek experience and learn a lot from it.

My main interest is austin-rover cars with a side-order of classical music.

A big allo to you all

Welcome ... pull up a chair, pass round the chocolate, setup a Joomla site, don't tell Jake that the keys to his cage are hidden behind the pot plant and smile at the arguements about OSes, phones, laptops, teachers, manglement, etc ... and you'll fit in fine.

Oh ... and don't believe everything Tarquel has told you ... Dos_Box really was seperated at birth from Meat Loaf and Ric really used to be in The Darkness.

@rhyds: Also don't feel that you need to follow Tarquel's lead where it comes to hairstyles... none of us do (although Tony maybe did when he had some hair!) :P

There is no such thing as a lowly tech ... just someone who has yet to get a serious dose of megalomania!

Welcome Jon and Darryl, make yourself at home

And no you can't have our rain - we need it to maintain our 'British weather' stereotype
