    Hello all.

I look after the school Network, phones and anything else that can be plugged in. We are only a small school (Secordary)of just under 400 pupils with a team of three.

This is my first forum, so be prepared for some silly questions!

    Hi Darth

Good to see some mainland Europe input starting to happen. When we were at the BETT Show earlier in the year we had a good chat with a few German teachers who mentioned that there was very little in the way of organised tech support for most schools. Would you say that this is a true reflection on things?

It would also be handy if you could create a new topic to help explain to members about the schools structure over in Germany so we can understand some of the background. I am always interested to see how other countries approach things.

Oh ... and if you are wondering ... don't tell Jake there is any chocolate ... it's a secret. ;-)

    Hi,

My Name's Gary and although I've been in IT all my working life, this is my first time working in education.

Term time plus 10 is where I'm at - woo hoo! very new to me!

    Hi Tony,

I should of made myself clear, even though I'm in Germany, we provide schooling for British Forces in Germany (see web link). So we have the same curriculum.
Most of the teachers and staff are from the UK and we have similar funding. Does that answer your question?

I only signed up for free chocolate!

We are used to it. Jake only signed up for the potential of female IT techs... the rejection from WITCH doesn't appear to knocked him back either

Where in BFG? I was out there for 7 years (88 - 95), and loved it. I did Bielefeld, Sennelager and Bavaria (little hut up a mountain).

Would that be the RhineD' school or one of the small ones dotted about?

Never mind - just spotted the link

Yeah, working in BFG. Up in Hohne (near Hannover for those of you who haven't a clue about Germany)

Only been at this school since Oct 06. Loving it :-) It's a new building, so we got all the mod cons, even windows in our office!!

I try not to spend much time in my cubby hole!

    S'pose you have aircon too...

    PS Welcome anyway!

That'd be one very sticky laptop. I doubt even Linux will run on Chocolate. Perhaps Jake would like to port it to the architecture?
