James Bond Fans: Martini [Shaken Not Stirred] Out: Lager In

In the upcoming James Bond film [Skyfall] he will, apparently, ask for a lager not a Martini.

I know that some things change but I think that this is one that should not.

Link: James Bond: No Longer Shaken or Stirred | Geekasms

Consider this, you go to a costume party, dress up in a tux, you could be anyone, until you order a martini, shaken, not stirred. Now, you’re James Bond! What happens when you order a Heineken wearing the same tux? You’re still just a guy in a tux, drinking a beer.

He's started driving Fords too. Its time to move on from the old cliche's. In the books, he drinks whiskey, and invents a cocktail (the Vespa).

Would he be undercover dressed in a tux in a Yorkshire pub?

JB doesn't *always* drink a Vodka Martini anyway.
Look at the older films, he drinks whiskey, vodka, beer (in bottles, usually), wine, and champagne (Bollinger typically).

    Taken from wikianswers:
In the James Bond novels he drinks a total of 317 drinks. His favourite drink is a straight whiskey (101 total) He has 30 glasses of champagne, and in "You Only Live Twice" he has 35 sakes.
The Vodka Martini tallies up a measly 19 totals. Only slightly over the gin martinis- 16.
The "Shaken not Stirred" is just a line, almost a stereotype of his character now. So who cares if he orders a pint for a change?

One point of all this - he drinks a lot doesn't he? His liver must be close to packing in...

Depends on how they approach it - I imagine they will do it in a very joking, knowing way that will still be making a subtle wink-anna-nod to the martini.

Very bad news indeed, Lagar tastes like **** no matter what the brand. Now if he was ordering a nice ale on the other hand, that'd be a different matter as he would finally be becoming a man.

I contest that assertion! A nice Corona with lime tastes delicious. Whereas ale tastes like old socks.

Five minutes of the film spent discussing local breweries and umming and ahhing over a bottle of Fullers and asking if there's any Batemans' instead?

All Mr Bond needs to do is try a bit of "old spot" and he'll never want to drink anything else again.

Lager in the country is awful, Czech lager is so much better, naturally brewed and no hangover.
