    Nice! My wife has been doing large cross stitches for the kids - name, date of birth, pictures etc - she's doing one for our son at the moment with Thomas the Tank Engine on it

    Well done, I intend to get crafty soon, I used to sew and cross stitch as a kid, the main kits nowadays are very flowery or girly. (sorry)

    There are geeky ones/non girly (I'm with ya there!) out there and there's a guy called Mr X I think who does it too.

    my mum used to do loads of xstitch and i used to make patterns for her ages ago (in the 90s) using excel with coloured x's in the boxes as the 'real' x stitch maker software was serious money!

    I love this! I, too, enjoy cross-stitch and would love to stitch this. Did you pattern it up yourself or do you have a pattern/colourchart you could point me at? (Although I am certain it wouldn't be too hard to approximate this from a screen grab). I want a Nyan-cat X-stitch in my life <3

    @Little-Miss Very good..

    My other half does a lot of Cross Stitch. She has been making Birthday Cards recently. If I can get any photos of them, I'll share them

    Well done Little Miss

    My Mum taught embroidery for many years, so I'm pretty handy with a needle too.

    Making your own patterns is fairly straightforward... I used to photocopy my drawn/traced design onto graph paper... nowadays with scanners and printers, I can print it onto graph paper instead and get the scaling right much quicker
