We use Spiceworks at all our sites and works out really well, its a bit bloated in areas but the helpdesk area is perfect.

OK finally got round to installing spiceworks. We have a few old pc's laying about so set one up and just installed spiceworks on it. Didnt want to slow down the server.

Done an networks scan and its only picking up 12 desktops we have more than that any ideas what i am doing wrong?

Spiceworks is great - I've got an ancient fujitsu e8020 running it. It copes - and uses very little power.

I wish they'd do a linux port so it doesn't need a windows licence. Could put it in a VM then - couldn't get it to work under 2008 server.

Have you got the IP ranges set up right in the scan settings?

I found it tended to pick up more devices over time, make sure the ip ranges are correct and include all you vlans if you have them and leave it a few days.

Although we tend to just use helpdesk and email alert functions.

Anyone know how to change the remote control feature so it does not log the users out and just remotes into the computer as it is?
