BBC iPlayer heads to Xbox Live next week

I though Xbox already had it... I saw it as "comming soon" a long time ago.

Also, Wii has BBC iPlayer. And it doesn't have subscription charges [XBL Gold], so...

    Le EDIT: Woops.

    Didn't see that.

Although, both of your links don't actually confirm it. It's just a rumor.

Does it integrate with voice and gesture control?

Expect older models to overheat if we do get to stream iPlayer. Am I being cynical? Yes.

They tried to release this years ago but M$ would only put it on for GOLD members, so BBC declined. I'm glad to see they stuck to their guns!

    Nope, not cynical.

    Especially, after this fiasco.

"Xbox 360 users with Kinect will be able to control the iPlayer using hand gestures and voice recognition...."

Great - does this mean I can tell the two pompous gits on Masterchef to %"@~ off and they will...?!

That took 'em a while didn't it? Just got a new TV with the Smart stuff built in, though, so iPlayer is native to the TV - and I've suddenly realised how low quality the Wii playback has been all this time. I now genuinely can't tell the difference between watching on the iPlayer or watching at the time, rather than the previous watching-through-cling-film-and-listening-through-a-door effect on the Wii.

Also, passive 3D on TVs is excellent. Not showing off or anything, just, y'know, providing an essential public information service...

To the kind person that neg repped

"Beta testing close din January, you really are full of it. BBC iPlayer never made it into the beta testing and there were countless threads talking about it and asking where it was!"

Please get facts right, Xbox AND BBC said it is available...and I for one am glad

So wait... you've been neg-repped for reporting factual news posted by actual news sites? Genius!
