    Recommend me podcasts

My house is in the middle of a massive upheaval renovation-wise and I find myself unable to get to my computer to load up a new audiobook onto my MP3 player to listen to in the car. I therefore find myself in need of many podcasts to help the hour's journey pass more pleasurably than it would listening to Radio 1.

At the moment the only ones I really listen to are Rum Doings and, when it's on, Infinite Monkey Cage. I tried RadioLab but didn't get on with it. General nattery ones or sciencey ones are more to taste, or anything where a topic is discussed intelligently, but I'm not really fussed over news-style podcasts because anything I want to know about technology or games I'll have just read anyway.

Anyone got any good 'uns they can recommend me?

    Tah!

I highly recommend Answer Me This! (ANSWER ME THIS! Best Internet Programme 2011 - Sony Radio Academy Awards (Gold)) Very funny stuff. You can subscribe on iTunes too.

Yeah AMT is the only one I still listen to regularly, it's brilliant.
Also I know you said no news/tech ones but the wired.co.uk one is pretty good

The Ricky Gervais show, Obviously for Karl Pilkington's mad views on anything. Se1 Ep4 is amazing and anything after should keep you going and there's plenty of them.

As for ricky gervais, if you do a hunt around you can find the archive of his radio show which preceeded the podcast, literally dozens of them and absolutely hilarious

I think it must be one of those universal laws, that if someone asks about podcasts, Ricky Gervais will be mentioned. Aren't they really old now?

    Bleurch! iTunes /crosses himself

grabbed a few episodes going backwards, the mad variety of stuff they discuss seems suitable though... Toadie from Neighbours and being rubbish at Warhammer in one episode? It's like a podcast of my brain!

If you want fiction - short sotries and so on - then Escape Pod and The Drabblecast are both very good.

Update: I'm currently listening to the Ricky Gervais podcasts and they have me in TEARS!!! Not sure why I have not listened to them earlier as I loved An Idiot Abroad, and these podcasts don't fail to disappoint!

No worries. I've already got them loaded on my iPod ready to go after I'm done with the podcast series.

    Thanks for the offer through!
