    Most stressful moments

It's soul destroying... and happens at the end of every half-term...

    "Sir, the DVD isn't working".

Walk in to 60 pairs of 7 year old eyes pleading for it to be fixed.

You start fiddling and the drive is acting up or the software is useless, whatever it is. You can feel the sorrow building...

Teacher: "Well, we might have to get our exercises books out in a minute children..."

    THANKS FOR THE EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL!

you want to try that when it's a hall full, including governors and slt.

I have a reasonable perspective on stress however, my most stressful moment was repairing a lighting desk psu in front of 6500 people who have paid £50 to attend, waiting for a rock concert to start... brown trousers much!

And then you realise they're trying to run a DVD-ROM in the DVD player. [So... Many... Times...]

Probably the wrong terminology... but I don't care. I'm going home. [/abscond]

I had to stand on a stage in front of 125 year 11s and explain to an external speaker from the local college that DVDs with coffee rings and scratches on the bottom don't work.

Failure normally happens in full view and success normally happens when no one is around.....

If you don't mind me asking, which band/artist was it?

    LIES!

I have disks that have been "cleaned" with muscle rub and they still work fine. They just smell a bit funny. [Don't ask... A child did it.]

I'm sure we have all had the moment when you have to get the Powerpoint working in front of 1000 pupils including all staff at a school assembly.

Had external speakers and interviewees in the past bring in Powerpoints on USB sticks.....only to find that all that did was copy the shortcut over and not the actual file...and been expected to make it work somehow.

Or the sound is up the the highest point cos they have not made a video correctly, the bass kicks in and the amp mutes (to protext itself)... the hall goes silent. All eyes look to you.

Yup, i did some conference teching for some big conferences and this happened *a lot* ended up having powerpoints emailed to my phone, then plugging the phone in mounted as an external hdd. Ran the keynote speech from my phone, which was at the time a palm treo!
