10th February 2012, 11:06 AM #3 Nice... can you believe it, I played Portal for the first time only last night... I've been missing out!
-
-
10th February 2012, 11:13 AM #4 I'll take both.
@LosOjos I haven't played portal either. I may pick up the "still alive" version... But, I've currently got 3 games to finish.
[AC:R, Twilight princess, Skyward Sword]
Plus, GuildWars stuff...
The number of unfinished games... IS TOO DAMN HIGH!!!

I can highly recommend it! I picked up The Orange Box for £15: Half Life 2 (excellent game), HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, Team Fortress and Portal, all on one disc

10th February 2012, 11:35 AM #6 I'm not really a FPS fan.
But, I like puzzle games. So out of the Orange box, all I'm interested in is Portal.

Although HL is technically a FPS, the perspective is pretty much where it's similarity with others ends, it's really more of a puzzle game. In fact, as a fan of FPS games, the fact you can't "aim" your gun (you have cross-hairs, but no zoom aim) infuriated me at first! The point isn't shooting everything that moves though (although there is some of that), it's more of a puzzle

Back in my day, that's how all FPS games were!
<Begin obligatory one-upmanship that will invariably end in someone saying the only FPS in their day was PONG>

haha well I'm not going to one-up you but I do remember fondly the old FPS games, it is weird not aiming on a XBOX though... put Doom or Duke Nukem in front of me and I wouldn't notice it, but on a modern game it just feels odd!

Back in my day, all FPS had ultra-HD textures, full damage feedback, realistic weaponry/ammo and no cheats.
["Back in my day" is interchangeable here with "during the war"]

Who's going to put their christmas tree up like this in December?

10th February 2012, 12:31 PM #13 Anti-joke chicken:
That wouldn't work. Gravity would pull it through.
Also, the bottom portal is red.
Also also, portal isn't real. [Which sucks... I want GLaDOS.]

The bottom of the tree is wider than the portal itself so if the tree was placed into the portal, the bottom of the tree would rest on the floor, ergo the downwards force would not be enough to pull the tree through.
Also, it is red.
Also also, I concur re. portals.

However, the branches of the tree aren't load bearing in design. It could only hold itself up for a short amount of time before it buckled. The added weight of ornaments would increase the force put on the branches making it more likely to be pulled through. Ergo, it wouldn't work [for long].
[Lol, debating why that wouldn't work based on physics and gravity. As opposed to simply "portals aren't real".]
