Brains starting to go..
As we all know, its our ability to remember what to do when X happens that keeps us in jobs.
Last week, a Mitsubushi projector stopped working (no light coming out) in a school that I took over 9 months ago.
I decided it needed new bulb and said to order a new one but then remembered the next day that this happened in the first week and MR Mitsubushi said to take bulb out and blast the insides with compressed air - which I did today and all well again.
But it just shows I'm on the slope now!

Brains are line hard drives, there's only so much cr@p they can take and when they start getting full the performance drop right off. We have an ongoing issue with the PC viewer on the CCTV system. It regularly drops one of the DVRs and is a pig to get going again. I can never remember how I fix it, so last time I wrote down the instructions in my little notebook. I got called down because it had happened again, only to find I had left my notebook at home!

I sometimes describe my brain as being like a wet sponge, held under a running tap....
As you pour more water onto the sponge, some of it leaks out.......

I had a new techie start a couple of months ago, and it's amazing how getting someone new in shows you how much knowledge you've collected and take for granted over the years - from little things like knowing the password to the switches or printers to knowing that a certain error can be fixed by clearing a profile or that $randomCrazyEffect is a result of $brokenAndSeeminglyUnrelatedBitOfKit, or that logon problems in the MFL computer lab will be spaces filled out in the username box, or that a helpdesk ticket from $favouriteTeacher is just her being a bit slow and if you just wait half an hour instead it'll be sorted anyway...

Just so long as you also remember the bit about not using the compressed air on the projector while it's on/hot!
