Don't get me on dBase @jdoyle. DB2 was the database of choice for IBM mainframe back then... I remember getting very irritated with my sister's boyfriend who kept telling me that we (I worked for a major insurance company) should be on DB4 by now. DB4 never existed... dBase was on version 4!

I stuck with dBase II; never really made the move to dBase III or dBase IV, though they were it's SQLs.
DB2 and dBase, very different Entities but at the time it was the Normal Form for those from the PC World to get the 2 mixed up and Attribute some sort of Relationship between them.
All the youngsters on here. I'm starting to feel about 3270 years old.

Look at it from the other angle.
You've got a job in a good field, you've got a wife, you've got a pussycat. Seems like a good life to me!

Very true. And curry and beer on the day will make it even sweeter.

3rd February 2012, 01:53 PM #38 I turn 30 at t'end of the month.
I wasn't feeling old until I realised that:
my main alcohol intake is now wine not lager.
The festivals and gigs have been replaced with DIY and Kiddicare.
I'm actually envious of teenagers to the point I wish they'd choke on their damn Dubstep.
I'm meeting people in a professional capacity that were born in the early 90's (and think Thundercats is a new cartoon)
I'm already rehearsing my tired old monologue about how TV's used to be black and white and how we used things called rotary telephones, and music was music with real instruments and junk.
Oh and crow's feet, marvellous...where did they spring from?
OK that's enough, im off for a can of Tab Clear and a packet of Sausage and Onion Walkers (in a see through bag)
Joe

27th February 2012, 12:47 PM #40 Three days to go until the big 30.
Not depressed any more though! Just had an awesome surprise weekend the wife secretly planned. She booked a hotel down Watergate Bay in Cornwall and also booked a table at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant! Also, the rents, in-laws and bro-in-law all came down as well. Was a total surprise walking into the bar for the first drink of the day at Sat lunch time!
The food there was AMAZING - best I've ever had! We got upgraded into the VIP booth and had our own dining area. Was a smashing weekend!

Sounds fantastic, mate!
Glad you had a great weekend....now stop worrying about hitting 30, and concentrate on the more important things in life!

Well, the wife said she picked Fifteen as it matches my mental age!
Not worried at all now. Awesome weekend gone by, the main event on Thursday consisting of shopping, lunch, evening drinks and more food, then a curry is the best curry house in the South West sat night with the wife and 18 friends!
