Phase 1 is
50Mb -> 100Mb
100Mb -> 120Mb
Phase 2
is 50Mb -> 120Mb which is why 120MB are getting the bill reduced to the 50MB package.

I turn wireless off on the (not so) 'superhub' and use another wireless router with DD-WRT flashed on it...

18th January 2012, 03:34 PM #19 When I do that checker thing it states it won't happen until October to June 2013 so although they are meant to be starting this as of February 2012 it may be sometime before it happens Im guessing ?

It starts this March/April on a rolling system throughout 2012 till mid 2013. The email I got said my upgrades are due March/April 2012. I guess I got lucky.

I got my letter from Virgin Media on Monday. It says sometime within the next 18 months.
IIRC 50Mb and 100Mb connections need to be upgraded to work, so they can't just flip a switch and double up everybody now.

Haven't had another email yet, it was first email ( everyone is getting 120mbps ), 2nd email, appologies for 1st email and I have only gone onto there website, done the post code checker thing and it shows that dodgy person pointing his fingers down and it stating between October and June 2013 , sigh
Yet when you do a post code checker as though you are a new user it states you can get 100mbps with virgin media so why can't they just upgrade me automatically I have no idea.
When they installed it - it was just a config thing so your hub points to a different server or something like that ref being on 20, 30, 50 mbps , I remember the engineer mentioning and talking to someone on the phone and stating to put us on the DOCSIS 3.0 server or someit.
Might be a bit more complicated then that though

18th January 2012, 03:47 PM #23 Replacing my router is on my list of things to do. The superhub is appallingly bad.
Think I may end up buying another Zyxel one.

18th January 2012, 03:50 PM #24 I must be one of the lucky ones as I've never had any issues with the Netgear router they supplied. Admittedly it's not dual band but there isn't much wireless traffic from the neighbours either. I'm pretty glad they are doing the free speed upgrade as they tried to sell me 20Mb (currently on 10Mb) before Christmas

Let me know which router you get ( I could do with getting a different one )

Have a lot of neighbours with wireless from plusnet, bt and one or two others who have changed there SSID so they could be with anyone ISP wise.
firewall and wireless issues on the superhub are a pita.

Yet do that (I assume you mean get a router, not a WAP). Something running DD-WRT/etc should do it.

Hopefully a router but I would need a cable one and put the superhub in modem mode or virgin media to send me just a modem

With 4 of us in my house, I've never had 'slowdowns' at my end, the limiting factor has always been the servers we're connecting to!
Was thinking that, although I dont have trouble at home since we pestered them to giving us a new router. Once that turned up we have not been disconnected once, iPhone, PC and Laptop all wortk without a snag.
*touch wood*.

18th January 2012, 08:40 PM #30 Is there anyway to test and see :
1. If neighbours routers are or have there wi fi at max power which is drowning out my wireless
2. what channels they are using so I can decipher what the best channel would be
3. how have you configured your wireless on your superhub @mthomas08
