Not during half term but during term time
One of my colleagues brought it up today and hes going to request it next week
Anyone else work with the radio on or similar? Cant see a problem with it myself since we're in an enclosed office away from classrooms, but we're also very near the head and deputys offices
Not sure if its seen as unprofessional or anything? Afterall the art department always has music on when when the kids are working

I have music on all the while, we don't play it too loud so there is no problem. We turn it off if we have a pupil or staff visitor.

Re: Music in the office?
We frequently play music in our office. The school here does not care, as long as it's not too loud.
During the summer when we are working (with no students on campus), we like to play music over the public address system for "annual testing"

We have the radio on every day in my IT office and have no problems.
We even have a 32 inch TV rigged up to an aerial for any major sporting events.(It is suppose to be for displaying the IP cameras in the computer sweets but the caretakers did us a favour and put in the aerial.)
The head even pops in the office to see the score on the TV some times.

We have managed to rig up a sky box and subscription to out server room, we offer the service of recording education programs for teachers so at least we have an excuse, just we kinda forgot to tell them we have the facility to do that!!!
We also have it going though a 42" plasma that had the school logo burned into it and management wanted removed, it stills does the job like...!

Radio 2 plays all day long - Staff (inc. Head) doesn't mind. Even been known to stick the iPod on (funny how the kids find it amazing that staff can actually listen to stuff they've heard of!!!) or IPTV.

Of course you all have PRS licences, don't you?
I occasionally stick the radio on, more to catch a travel prior to leaving, or if I'm on my Jack for the afternoon and bored.

Got a MP3 jukebox which users can connect to. A few thousand albums on it.....
Got a LCD hooked up to an old onDigital STB - still going - record anything worthwhile for the media server - Radio 2 in the afternoon all the way - Steve Wright - I keep meaning to ask Elvis a few techy questions....
Radio 2 plays all day long
Even that twit Jeremy Vine ? He is BANNED in our office. The bloke is a first class idiot. If you want a phone in then its Radio 4's 'Down The Line....'
'What Is Point ?' - you have to be a Down The Line to get that......

we have a pc with winamp on shuffle has about 8 days worth of music in the playlist that just runs an amp and some speakers in our room its on all the time...... Windows media encoder captures what winamp plays and pushes it to a media server, and there is a link on the intranet so staff and kids can listen to if they so wish...
intend to capture and push skynews out too soon.

Radio 2 in here usually.
Personally I'd rather listen to http://www.di.fm but background audio is always good. Well, mostly.
