Considering getting a phone for my OH. He's currently got an old Nokia which is on its last legs. He's not a technophobe and is competant (had a good teacher
) but lacks patience.
Its probably time he moved onto a smart phone with touch screen as thats pretty much all you can get unless you get a Blackberry (unless you know otherwise). I'll spend up to £150 on it, it cant be laggy as it'll end up out the window. He's not interested in any fancy functions, its most important feature is the phone!.....and maybe SliceIt! lol
So, anyone recommend a good phone? Is the Wildfire S any goo d. I liked my Wildfire but as its entry level, it had its slow moments.

15th December 2011, 10:38 AM #2 Not sure ref price wise but I know the iPhone will get slated on here plus they are a lot of ££££ so that is the iphone out of the equation.
Thus leaving android based phones for the most part so samsung galaxy S2 or 2S that or the nexus ?
Best bet is to go into a phone store for the network you / he is with and have a play with different handsets

Just asking for experience really cus a quick half hour on the phone in a shop can be completely different to your experience 3 weeks later.

Think it must just be vodafone but after my OH got an android phone - i've not really enjoyed the android side of things.

As for the phone Kaz....the Wildfire S is a fantastic phone for what you pay for. If he mainly wants a phone just to be a phone, Samsung Tocco is about £70 now and does the job nicely just as a phone.

15th December 2011, 11:04 AM #6 I assume you're looking at a contract? If so you're probably just as well looking at the high-end androids, SGS2, Nexus, etc
User experience is much nicer on a more powerful handset, and it's likely to last longer...

15th December 2011, 11:10 AM #9 I'd look at Android. I would recommend a HTC Desire HD, purely because its what I've got and its good, but I think there is a model below mine.

Not sure on the handset price at moment but I would highly recommend the HTC Desire HD. I love mine, the big screen makes it very easy to use and its fast enough to run multiple things at once.

15th December 2011, 12:11 PM #11 Sony Ericsson Xperia
I got one of these for my wife a week or two ago, cost nothing on a contract renewal.
And I have to say, I like it a bit more than my Galaxy S...
Android, Touchscreen, and a slide out qwerty keyboard. Camera isn't bad either, even has a flash.
I haven't had to show my wife how to do most things, except I setup the wireless for her.
