Ive just found out that the school has installed cameras in 2 of the boys toilets, for valid reasons obviously, but I didnt think you were allowed to do that?
They're all live and connected to our CCTV server and I can view them live and recorded...

We have a camera in the toilets too, as far as we found out, you can position cameras in toilets provided that they do not cover cubicles etc. Ours only show the sink area
Oh thats alright then, they definately dont cover cubicles, just the sinks
We have the same thing as Jake, and we had a professional company install all of ours. Its perfectly fine to have cameras in toilets providing they do not cover cubicles or urinals.

So what happens if one of the little darlings decides to take a pee in the sink how are you covered for that. Are you allowed to view the material if this happens?

What i would say is make sure get head to give you letter saying that it is part of your job to monitor the cctv just to cover legal issues.
Second as not really reason for you to look loo at those cameras only do when requested by slt and in presence of one of them.

It must be pretty bad when kids are stealing the sinks
How well do they cope with UV lighting?
I guess so because he shouldnt be at the sink area with his peepee out, I imagine it would be the same if a kid got up in class and got his bits out on the classroom cctv.Originally Posted by bossman
Our toilet CCTV was the last one we put in, we put it in after the school had just spent £120,000 getting all the school toilets done up during the summer, and 2 days after the start of the new term someone snapped the taps off the sinks in one of the boys toilets causing £4000 of total damage, after that SMT decided that we needed a camera in there.Originally Posted by CyberNerd
We have CCTV in the toilets here too, same as Jake, they cover the sink area and are set to motion detecion so they don't record all the time.
I do the rules on CCTV in public toilet facilities is that they MUST NOT face any urinals or over any cubacles but are allowed to face the sinks and areas without the actuall facilities.
So do you need to be careful what can be seen in the MIRRORS above the sinks? i.e. if a cubicle door is open, and the toilet is then visible in the mirror, is that okay or not??Originally Posted by BKGarry
Yeah I will only look at them if requested so as to cover myself, Ive actually taken them off the auto connect list for the CCTV because theres no reason for me to look at themOriginally Posted by russdev
We had ours put in after a small fire was started!
UV Lighting?! You can't tell me you need to install UV lighting in your toilets?! If so is it to combat the use of drugs? And if so, what kind of school do you work at where kids are shooting up?!Originally Posted by stephenleak
