    IT Request of the week

    I'll open the batting:

    Code:
    (knock at the door)
    me: "Come in"
pupil: "Can Mrs. Spencer have the wireless microphone in the hall please?" (name changed to protect the inn..., erm, teacher in question)
    me: "Yup, here you go"
pupil: "And she said can you come and show her where to plug it in?"
    Is it christmas yet?

"My laptop and whiteboard are not working...they were fine before assembly...I have checked all the plugs are in..."

...but you forgot to connect the power lead to the laptop...that's why it is not on and there is no picture on the whiteboard...

This isn't fair.........I've not had any stupid requests for weeks.......unless I'm just letting them go in one ear and out the other without stopping.

My favourite was "the projector isn't working in the hall", this was after an assembly.... got to the hall and asked to help put the benches away!

Can you come and have a look at the kids in Room Y, they aren't learning anything.
Sit them in front of a computer with an Internet connection, et voila! As if by magic, they can learn as much about anything as they want to.

    1st one
"A website is blocked, can I be allowed it please, there is a video I need to show the studens".
Me- Strange, staff are only blocked from a few sites... what does it tell you? have you got your internet settings in place
    "Its telling me Adult Content"

I check the site, turns out to be half a porn site with Inappropriate materials covering the entire page*

    2nd one
Same staff member, occuring every week for about 7 weeks.
    "My internet is blocking Youtube"
have you put your internet settings back to College, here is instructions you need to follow each time you come and go.
    "Sorted thank you"

Repeat every 5 working days, she will ask once more next week and first week back.

    3rd
    "Printer not printing"
    Is it turned on?

    4th
"My laptop doesnt work and I dont know why?"
After looking at it, Its been dropped or smashed, screen is ruined, case looks half off, you have dropped that or something.
    "No I have not"
    This has been smashed
"No honestly I have not done anything"
After more testing, Hard Drive cover has been bent, this has been ruined
"No I have not damaged it"
After even more looking at it, this has been dropped or smashed in some way, sorry but it has been.
"Oh.. I drop it when it was in my bag"

Not an IT request but a request all the same.

Got asked by a student for the other half of the books for the lesson. When asked what book, she replied the Chemisry ones! Apparently we are also science techs too.

Not this week but we have had students turn up ten minutes before the end of the lesson (having hunted us down by walking around the entire school - despite there being a note on our door saying where we would be) to tell us that distilled water is needed in lab 3.

Our reply. Oh good you better go and see the science technicians then.

Teacher: "We've lost the remote to the projector."
Me: " " (Resisting urge to say "the expensive HD one we installed less than 2 weeks ago?")
Teacher: "I need to switch it on as we have a video conference in a few minutes. What do I do?"
Me : "Just press the on/off button on the projector."
Teacher: "Oh, I wasn't sure that would do it"

One hour later, message on telephone:

Teacher: "We've finished the video conference but need to switch the projector off. Can someone come and do it for us or show us what to do?"
