It's a while ago - but I got a call to a classroom as someone's laptop had gone off , just shut down on them yet it's on charge... I let them rant for a while then turned to the wall and flicked the switch turning the power on to the charger. (which was under the white board infront of the whole class to see)

I left with out saying anything.

I had a phone call, which stated, "MY COMPUTER IS DEAD, I NEED IT THIS LESSON, THE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE AREN'T WORKING, HELP!!!!" My response, "Have you pressed the power button?" the answer I received to that question was "Ah, that's fixed it." Some people.... xD

    A recent one:

"Can we please have the manual that came with the phone you have just installed?"

    My reply:

    "Instructions:
    1. Pick up phone.
    2. Dial number.
    3. You will hear a ringing - this isn't in your mind - please wait for the other person to answer.
    4. They might not answer if they know it's you. After a minute or two, hang up phone and go to step one. "

"I don't like the clicker, I don't want to hold it. Can you click through my assembly powerpoint for me?"

Reminding people they have teaching assistants and that I'm NOT one is really hard here.

    Standard here.

"But I just don't want it to go wrong... Can you stay and make sure it goes OK"

A reminder of the the 5-P's mantra doesn't go down well.

Sorry, I'm booked in to stand next to a printer for an hour then I've got a 4 hour stretch guarding the photocopier.

I'm one who's gone from the teaching to being support. When i was a teacher, I used to get grief from the techs, for fixing the problems I found, as I was doing the techs out of a job. So I changed my job.

The ones we get quite often here are: "My smartboard has stopped working", when it's in fact the projector that isn't turned on.

Get called to classroom - "The computer won't let me delete this file"

Error on screen - "File In Use: The action can't be completed because the file is open in Microsoft Word

Close the file and try again."

This was a lesson with an ICT teacher!

Tell me this what I think it is...

Someone decided to do a conference call in the toilet.

[it's a Dillbert comic... on bus, can't search for it.]

I think I've gotten enough of this type of request over the years that I've now perfected my "[censored] off" look...
