When asked ... I said I would move into the empty suite next door and report it to the site manager for repair. Although, I think, it was a perfectly reasonable solution ... she continued to teach in the room and continued to report back to me the worsening leak!
I called the site manager to report it, and hes taken the room out of use until its sorted. Now she is calling me again to complain about the room not in use because its the only suite she can use as its got all the modeling and animation facilities ??!!
I've aready had two similar instances this morning:
PC not working - turn monitor on
Sound not working - plug speakers in
Thank God I'm on jury duty for the next couple of weeks - I might just see a bunch of other people who can't do as they're told but at least I might be able to do something about it!
My email isnt working:
*staff member trying to email a 245MB file when all staff have been told several times what the email limit is.
I think from what I have seen in all IT roles that I have ever carried out, you will always get people that will come out with "I have checked everything here, all the connections and all the wires are plugged in" usually translates as "I am ringing you to do it, as I haven't really done anything other than stare at it in front of me and wonder why its not working"
To which I go flip a switch, push the power lead in properly, put the plug in the wall or turn the plug on in the wall, to put them back in business.
Things never change in IT, no matter where your working I think.
Indeed rich a daily occurence, this morning i've already had a student come to my office saying
"Hi I've tryed to save some work but had a warning come up saying you are unable to save please contact your administrator"
"Ok sure do you have the warning on your screen still?"
"No it was yesterday morning so I turned the computer off, could you save it for me?" This was a year 11 pupil not a young one so I just explained in future dont leave it, our office door is no more then 3 feet away from the classroom he was in!
yup, I've had this morning "The computer is gone" walk to other side of campus with emergency laptop expecting pc to have been stolen (it's an ultra small HP dc7800, so not difficult to pinch) Only to find the PC safe and well, but with it's mouse unplugged.
"In what way is that PC 'gone'?"
"I can't use it, it's gone."
I just plugged the mouse back in and left. Words failed me.
Sadly most of the 'walk over and plug it in/turn it on' calls seem to be a daily occurrance for us.
Best call "Can you come and get a squirrel out of the boys' toilets ?"
I have yet to have any complaints, I told staff a while ago why it was put in to place, we had mentioned several times that an email to all staff = 200 emails 200xSpace taken. Staff may delete it, but it will still sit in deleted items, emails sent to students = 1400 emails 1400xSpace taken.

I had a converstaion the other day with a new music teacher who's starting in January. The previous teacher had no control over the pupils and equipment and basically got bumped out for it.
Anyways, she came asking for her logon details which I gave her, fine, then she hit me with - "So, I've noticed only 10 keyboards are actually working in the room, can you fix the others for me?!" To which I promptly replied, "No sorry, that's not within my remit" but deep down I wanted to say, "Yeah sure, would you like me to re-string and tune up the guitars while I'm at it?!!!"
