We tried handing them an old stick of ram in response to this one a couple of times. Sadly the comedy genius fell on deaf ears!

At my school anything with a plug or powered by electricity seems to be regarded as our responsibility. I am surprised we weren't given the task of 'programming' the schools Christmas tree lights to make them twinkle.....

Arduino combined with a web interface? There's a nice little project for the students to learn programming and hardware and stuff

We have the sir, can I have more - memory/space all the time, i too tried making it funny, it didnt work.

I also get, Sir is Mrs X/Mr Y in here, I look under my desk, then reply no, sorry!. Same if they say, have I seen.... or Do you know where Mr/Mrs is... no sorry I dont have a tracking device fitted to them.

Its when you are asked for more user storage/printer credits when in the coridoor.

Or Sir do you have a stapler/sellotape etc when in an ICT Morning/Lunch Homework club, so I empty my pockets then say no, sorry.

I could go on, the usual audio lead unplugged, socket switched off etc happens a lot.

Now that we're using proximity cards for catering/library/access control it's led to some interesting requests.... replacement bus passes, replacement library cards (as in public library in town, nothing to do with school), asking if they can have one turned in to a pay as you go credit card and the one-off (so far) brilliant one... can you print me a new driving license, I've lost the card bit!!!

I had this when i worked for a support providor. Smell came from the server room so was our fault, sent guy onsite at their request to tell them they had a dead rat in the air con and no, there was no way he was going to remove it. Said Charidee paid £600 for that.

I had someone once present me with a load of floppy disks which "had some free megabytes on them" asking if I could move them to her laptop as it was running out of them.

    this week..

Colour printer in exams office having issues
New ink (compatible) is smelly making page's smelly
    New ink is also wet
Wondering about have the printer serviced.
Need to get some of that fancy new dry ink.

Also the usual pupils coming in saying:
    "computer not working"
    "where?"
    "in the classroom"
    "which classroom?"
    "D Block"
"that's a very big classroom can you narrow it down?"
    "i dunno"
    "who's your teacher?"
    "i dunno"
    "whats not working?"
    "i dunno"

End up trailing half way across school having to drop everything to follow the id... pupil. Only to find they need a replacement mouse or new toner.

Our response to things like this are usually "OK. Is your teacher logged in to the teacher computer? Yes? Great - ask them to log the problem via the helpdesk please and we'll look at it as soon as possible."

Or if it's to do with their computer and they're fairly new, we might do an initial diagnostic using RM Tutor. We have room plans with computer IDs on to help identify which computer they might be on.
