LSA: Just wondering if you IT boffins could access a word document on my computer at home?
Me: do you have any form of remote access setup?
LSA: *Stares blankly*..... Oh well it was worth a try.
"When i log into any computer i cannot load anything. Its the old system that comes up and it has nothing when i click all programmes. Thank you, i need help. "
Thing, they haven't told me where they are what this 'old' system is. We have migrated to Windows 8.1, but I cant quite see how it would reset to Windows 7 for them
I think there is a severe lack of detail here...
I'm experiencing a very similar thing here while sorting out the sims upgrade, had a few tickets that simply say.
"sims not working please fix"
i've had three now and get fed up chasing people to find out what machine they mean.
I've take to looking on impero where there logged on a fixing that one.
Seriously how hard is it to write a computer name on a ticket ?
Our bursar called me yesterday, got distracted by someone and had a complete blank when I answered the phone.
Bursar: 'The... thing... that's up by me... it's not... it's stopped... <goes into fits of laughter>'
Me: You mean the photocopier has run out of toner.
Bursar: 'Hahaha. Yes! That's what I was trying to say.'

WHY do they find it so hard to understand that we need to know which computer they are talking about?
Just remembered one I had last week from a long-term supply teacher.
'Is Primary Games 5 on the teachers' thing or do I have to go through the computer?'
Errrrrrrr... I really didn't know how to answer that one.
Email to me from user copied and pasted
Andy I seem to have 2 emails the one with com won't get to me
"This website is blocked" *Emails a screenshot which only included half the URL
Not even a question! No manners and I had to figure out when they were trying to access the url to unblock it!
"Can I have a spare laptop to work on during the holidays? My one keeps getting hot."
(Laptop in bag over teacher's shoulder)
"Sounds like the fan is blocked. Pass it here and I'll clean it out."
"Erm... I can't do that now. I'll let you have it after the holidays."
Teacher in question is always moaning about speed of laptop, but whenever I suggest I have it for 1/2 a day to take a look the request is denied. I've even issued a new one as a loaner while I was investigating, but she "never had time" to transfer her work over (why it's not in a synced folder...) and then the loaner had to be used by a "challenging" child. I checked - true.
I'm beginning to wonder what's on there. Given that another staff member had photos of their nudist holiday on there school laptop, maybe I don't want to know.
We have just had a phone call from one of our members of staff. The call went along the line of "Please help me, there are aliens in my computer". On the way back to the office I happened to look out to the front of the school. Someone has setup the stocks!
I think this is what you call a interesting afternoon or I've finally lost my mind.
