Because she is interested in the admin staff, finance and personnel systems above everything else.
Actually, the bursar is pretty much the boss... She deals with everything except teaching and as such ICT comes under that, logically. The ICT co-ordinator reports to a different person but liason between the 2 is fine here.

This seems to make the most sense really, to me anyway.

No believe it or not those 4 people are supposed to be responsible for parts of my job, the head for whole school issues, the business manager for things that affect her, the head of ict for mainly ict department stuff and the deputy for something I can't remember.

But basically I am pretty much left to get on with things. Head of ICT and I are supposed to meet regularly but he never bothers.

    Re: line managers?

Well depends which school I am at.

    Officially it should go:

Lead school ICT Co-ord -> ICT Co-ord of school I am at. -> Me.

Mostly this works but some heads like to muscle in above the 'ICT Co-ord of school I am at' bit which gets a bit political at times

Mostly though the feeling is 'working with' rather than 'working for' which is great.

How can and ICT Manager have anything execpt the Director Of ICT or the Head Teacher as their line manager..?

The ICT Co-Ordinator does not have the skills to manage a ICT Manager..

In fact the ICT Manager should be the most skilled in ICT in the entire school..

Well I work in primary so the ICT Co-ordinator is all we got. He is charged with delivering the ICT curriculum, something he understands much better than me as I am not a teacher.

Of course and non-curriculum matters should be down to the Manager, which gennerally it is for me.

Some things might get squeezed in if time allows ... password changes take seconds so can be done quickly ... and if a call comes in from Senior Manglement then they get the option to go to the top of the list ... but only after you mention "if I do this for you it means that I cannot do x for class y ... as long as you are happy that you want me to do it that way" ... they take responsibility for something not being done.

And everyone is happy ... erm ... ish
that sounds logical. Is it written down in policy somewhere so everyone knows? like senior managers? Has anyone got this kind of prioritising in written format-job description or policy document?
