Had phone call the other evening from a person calling on behalf of UNISON asking if I was striking next week. They seemed a bit surprised when I told them that I hadn't been a member for over 4 years since I left working in Education and that it didn't affect me.

After reading the Voice website, you can stop and listen to the picket line member's point of view but you must make every effort to go to work. If the line is dangerous, you don't have to cross but I doubt your teachers will be rioting outside the gates.

If you aren't striking, make it known in writing to management. That way if you cannot get on-site, you cannot have a days pay docked or disciplinary action taken against you.

We are closed to students but open for staff not striking. Nice quiet day to get stuff done.

Our school is open and I am going to fight, punch, kick, headbutt and bite my way through the picket-line if there is one.

Still not had an official letter, email or conversation about what is happening here. I suspect it will be like the last one, closed to students, open to staff.

Similar here to most I think, we're shut to pupils open to those staff who aren't striking.

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you view it!) as I am no longer in the Public Sector (partly due to the last sodding strike!) I wont have to contend with a horde of rioting teachers..

Personally, and I can say it this time without being hauled in front of a tribunal this time, I think striking over pay duirng a time when the economy is about to go down the pan is ridiculous - where do they think the extra money will come from - let me think -oh yeah - from everyone else when TAX is increased - meaning we all end up with even less money than we have now! /RANT

We're open (independent) despite most of our teachers being in striking unions and being paid on national pay scales.

Local secondaries seem to be staying open for years 11-13.
