    Website host that has templates

A former teacher wants to set up his own website but has no web skills whatsoever. His intention is to market his skills through this website of his and, without me being called upon to do it for him, I was wondering is there a host that has ready-made templates that he could use to get his website up and running within a day?

Yup, I would recommend he looks at wordpress. Someone like yourself could setup the initial config i.e. database etc. and then everything else he just does via the Admin Portal.

So as not to get caught up in the 'well you set it up, so you fix it' problem, I'd recommend 1and1. Completely takes you out the loop, and any support he needs will be with 1and1 directly. They seem pretty good, and I used to get my domains with them with no trouble.
