ICT Vision
I've just joined EduGeek and it looks like a fantastic resource!!
So for my first post...I'd be grateful for some advice. I've been asked by my son's primary school to assist them with developing a ICT Vision and programme of work. I've been a freelance IT/Telecomms consultant for some time but never in the public sector.
Am I entering a world of pain and regulation? I've been trying to navigate the BECTA site to see if there are any regs I must follow but I'm not having much luck. Any advise would be gratefully received! :?

Re: ICT Vision
Anything goes as long as it doesn't cost more than £5.99 and is guaranteed not to work with everything else or is my school untypical.

Re: the scheme of work -
Most primary schools use the QCA schemes of work in primary. However, they are very out of date (published in 1998) and things and abilities have moved on since then - for example, in year 2 we are supposed to teach them how to use the space bar etc... - Well, they do that in reception now - my year 2s make talking books and shoot and edit videos using movie maker!
As you may know, the Auntie-DFES have brought out new frameworks for literacy and numeracy so they thought they'd bring out one for ICT to match. Anyway, because they didn't want to put too much onto schools, it was shelved and then scrapped but I have a draft copy. It's just a progression of skills to be taught throughout the school - no real activities or anything. But it would be a good starting point. PM me your email and I'll send it to you.
Essex LEA are supposed to be publishing it with activities in September. But I don't know how good it'll be.
I would tend to avoid commercial schemes myself. They always 'look good' but are never up to much.
