My Sister is a IT teacher (yes one of those
) and has been sent a whole staff email about planning trips (residential and non) for Next summers Activities week and is trying to think of ideas of what she could possibly suggest for an IT related trip (doesn't solely have to be an IT trip could incorporate other things such as Activities etc).
I suggested maybe a visit to silicon valley but apparently that was inappropriate.
I also suggested visits to the Computer History museum (Suffolk) and the national museum at Bletchley Park).
Any other ideas/suggestions?

1st November 2011, 06:40 PM #2 How about speaking to local large companies or maybe even something that might pique interest like amusement parks, see if you can get a tour of facilities they'd not normally see, watch IT systems working in real time doing real work, see how skills they are learning day to day at school can apply in the real workplace.

1st November 2011, 06:50 PM #3 Where is she located? There are plenty of places her class could go to...
Midlands
Gaydon Technology Centre, Banbury
Land Rover, Solihull
Cadbury World, Bournville
Manchester Airport
Thorpe Park
Legoland
Goonhilly Earth Station, Cornwall
Also local cinema's are not adverse to the idea either
Each place allows school visits to see how IT works/worked

Unfortunately not as my contact with them was a few years back and was with a contractor who has now moved on. I am sure they will accommodate you as they are always looking to indoctrinate sorry I mean educate young
People in Microsoft ways.
