    ALT Shift And Print screen

In our school we are having increasing problems with keyboard shortcuts. Children have now started to Switch High Contrast either on or off). To do this they simply press alt, shift and print screen. Does anyone know how to do this or have a GPO written?

You mean you want to restrict their ability to do this?

Probably breaks some DDA regs as then the students that need it wouldn't be able to access it?

The registry key for it is HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\HighContrast\Flags , "122" is disabled.

For some reason I managed to read plexers reply as "You mean you want to restrict their ability to do this? Probably breaks some legs"

Erm, if you try this, it says about deactivating the key combination by clicking the Settings button. If you do this you get another window. If you click the Settings button on that window, you get yet another window with a tick box to deactivate the key combination. It looks like it is one of the Accessibility features.

Tested this on our user type and they can't do it. We have Accessibility disabled in the GPO except for students that need it. So if you can restrict that then it shoudl restrict the key combi.

Re: ALT Shift And Print screen

Has anyone else ever tried pressing CTRL-ALT-ESC in internet explorer? I don't know what it does, but it crashes internet explorer completely.

Also apparently some of the kids in this school have found a way of disabling the keyboard of a machine by using a key combination. Problem is I don't know what combinition it is yet!!

Re: ALT Shift And Print screen

CTL-ALT-ESC is the keyboard shortcut to load taskmanager. But only on windows 2000.

    CTL-SHIFT-ESC loads task manager.

    CTL-ESC opens the start menu.

ALT-ESC switches windows like ALT-TAB (minus the popup).

Where IS the accessibility setting? Can't find it and I want to set it on the student OU down. I will create an OU that takes care of issues for visually impaired students if I am notified about them.

Control panel settings would be my guess.
The script blocks them using it as even disabling it in the gpo wont block the keystrokes from triggering the options I believe.

Thanks for the pointer to the script. Works for my Technician user but no others. I think I will incorporate the changes in to the image and roll out the changes next time the stations need a refresh...
