Hello Techs,
Mate of mine has a place in france, and is going over when an important match is on Sky Sports. In france, they have a tv, sky box and dish, but no subscription. Is there anyway he can have sky sports for just a weekend or a week while he is there? Via a temporary weekend viewing card ?
There is no internet connection at the house in france, and it's out in the sticks aparantley.
Cheers.

17th August 2011, 02:37 PM #2 sky sports is tied to the box. So whilst some channels you can take the card and put it in another reciever, sky sports wont work like that.
AFAIK you cannot subscribe for just a weekend.
If he has sky at home I would suggest he take the receiver and card with him and that would work.
A chipped card is illegal an not allowed to be discussed on here, but anyway, sky UK is one of the only ones never to been done AFAIK.

17th August 2011, 02:38 PM #3 I believe the card is tied to the box so taking his Sky card with him wont work, he would need to take the Sky box as well.

18th August 2011, 02:02 AM #6 He's SOL then IMO. Without internet or an existing sky card, the only option is to find a pub.
I have a couple of slingbox I use which are plugged into various satellite systems (2 in scotland one here in Sydney) which means I can watch my payTV when I am away from home. But it requires an internet connection.
@JJonas, It is possible to reauth a card to a new box you just need to phone them up with the box number and the card number.
Reminds me of a funny story of when we all wanted to watch a game on the box and were on holiday overseas but couldnt find the game on anywhere, we ended up in a pub, all of us crowded round a table with mobile phones on it getting updates of the game via SMS. Locals thought we were mad when we all started cheering after a beep
