I'm in full agreement with everyone on here that says about tazering, tranquilizing or just trunceoning this mindless morons. The trouble is when they get to court most of them will get a slap on the wrist and sent on their merry way.
Maybe all those convicted of a riot related crime should be conscripted for a couple of years. Seeing as how it is a punishment they would only have to be paid the bare minimum. The forces are being cut back all the time, maybe this is a cost effective way to bolster it. A couple of stints in Helmand Province might make these dickheads think again.

I like the conscription option - not sure how it would work for rioters under the age of 16. Maybe you should set up an e-petition?

I quite like this one http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/7337

The under 16's could do all the community service that the older ones will be missing. Good idea about the E-petition.

I just can't believe the whole irony of the events. Here we have many youths complaining about funding cuts, and lack of job prospects, yet here they are burning down potential employers and making the government spend even more money that we simply don't have.

The prisons are over crowded, so why not round them all up on a ship like we did years ago and deport them - let them work for themselves and see if they can make a better job of things. I know for certain that if I'd have urinated on my mam and dads back door step I would have been out, why not the same for these morons? Only thing is, there's not much land left to populate - I hear mars is nice this time of year, nice and hot

It isn't that easy, if your son is twice your size and aggressive, how are you supposed to keep him in? I know someone who brought their son up properly but he has gone right off the rails, got in with the wrong crowd. They just feel helpless now.

Proper discipline, its all well and good saying he was bought up properly, but if he was he would have a set of right and wrongs. Nothing wrong with Corporal Punishment in my opinion. If I stepped out of line I got a smack, simple as, same goes for my daughter. I know its easier said than done but if the discipline is instilled early enough it will last a lifetime!

I wouldn't trust someone like that behind me with a loaded weapon! The Army needs people who want to enlist, not 'press ganged' kids.

NikChillin - Kids don't pop out as 100lb 6 foot masked gits. The point about parenting is to start showing discipline from the off. How you handle them from early infancy onwards makes a hell of a difference when they're 16.

I have always had the same viewpoint on this - kids should be disciplined properly (a good clip round the ear or smacked backside). Naughty steps and "time out" are complete and utter rubbish. Coppers should be able to clip them round the ear again - same old argument we've had before. Reasonable force. All this rioting rubbish comes from kids who have absolutely no sense of right or wrong and have little to no proper discipline.

Peer pressure though is something else entirely and quite unavoidable - it can only be overridden by each individuals willpower and sense of right/wrong.

I think some military discipline would do them good, teach them some respect, failing that community service then. Do two years of education or national/community service when you leave school to qualify for benefits.
Some of them might even enjoy it.

Do a minimum contract of 8 years in the services with a guaranteed trade at the end. doesn't matter which service, as they all offer good trades.
