    House Points

Does anyone have a web-based (or otherwise computerised) system for recording and displaying House Points?
I'd like to have a page on our Intranet for displaying them, and was hoping it wouldn't have to be manually updated...

Pretty sure you can record house points in sims (if you use it). You should then be able to use something like command reported to extract to csv which can be used to produce an HTLM guide.

I have an asp/access based system here that allows the pupils to add their points weekly...the intranet home page then shows weekly and yearly totals.

The head also uses a powerpoint slideshow that updates from the database automatically and shows the weekly results in the Friday assembly...the slideshow is animated and reveals the scores one digit at a time with a fanfare when the winner is shown...

I guess I could share my system...if I get it documented first of course...

There is a block in Moodle that will allow you to do it.

Thanks for that but unfortunately it is the school that doesn't have moodle that has the house point system

    Documentation. What's that?

Share it first, let us worry about documentation when we cant get it set up!

I've just recently made one. It's nothing fancy and is designed to be on a display in our reception area for all to see.
It has a simple edit page to just add points (we don't take away points here). It displays the points for that week but you can enter week numbers to search between.

No documentation really but the code is commented. It uses PHP and mysql.

We currently use (we call it BAR) a database based system in SQL. Although I do plan on sticking on the guys to do list "House Point" which can also tie in to the BAR system. Our BAR system is good/bad points based on behaviour/homework etc and all sorts of reports can be pulled through from it. Students with XX Good get rewards, those with XX Bad get reported and all this is also viewable to parents.

Similar to what is available from SIMs behavior but much more broader, with a large list of reasons, customisation. Bar charts/graphs can also be viewed by student, year groups etc (again by parents so they can see their own childs). I wish they did use SIMs then we can pull it in to frog but now the guy has to get his VLE tied to it

I have realised that my house points system is rather well embedded in our intranet...

As I have a six week lay off after this week I will have a go at separating the house point code so it will be easier to implement on other systems...

...all I need to do is get asp running at home as I usually work with php/mysql out of school...

I know a NM who wrote a fantastic house point system. I've sent him an email and asked him to drop onto this thread.

Now I remember why I hate using ASP so much...

...I have brought a copy of my house point code home and thought all was going well until I started getting weird messages about permissions and locked databases...and that was when the fight started...
