Leaving Plusnet to switch to Virgin Media

    Hello,

Can somebody help me please, I am not binded to a fixed term contract with PlusNet but want to leave them and they want to charge me £25 to leave them as it is stated in their terms and conditions. Do they still have legal power if I am not fixed to a contract? I did pay a connection Fee! I pay £23 a month for phone and broadband and am only getting 3MB speed. I am switching to Virgin Media for a 30MB speed, with phone and all tv channels in two rooms for £32 a month as at the moment I also pay £20 a month for sky.

    Oliver.

I think that companies should send you a paper copy of terms and conditions which I would need to sign and send back. PlusNet haven't sent me any paperwork what so ever.

I'm switching from virgin media to Sky.

Meant to be getting 20 meg internet and lucky if it works at all! Been with virgin for years but for 2 months we have had nothing but trouble.

You could try bluffing virgin, saying your not sure about the package as you have to pay to leave PlusNet. They might just give you the £25 or knock that off your bill or something

Virgin have already given me free installation, and 2 free V+ HD Boxes.

They are probably quoting this figure as a "cease" of adsl on your line which I believe they now have to pay BT.

Have a look at - ADSL - New "cease" charge

When I left plusnet (to move my parents from it to Virgin) the guy was understanding when I explained the situ and he wrote it off, mind you I'd been a customer for a number of years.
